about

The Donor Blues was a internet collaboration between myself and Isaac Gillespie of The Due Diligence(www.iwillwreckyourlife.com).
I ended up dissecting a track that Isaac had sent me for input, and wrote a narrative more or less about the give and take aspect of the human career.
This song has long stood as a personal favorite and depicts many of the struggles and consequences I have personally faced.

lyrics

Found my fingers up north in the forest of the fern
Yeah I blame them words for all Ive learned
Well I watched my wits walk west where the money is earned
Just to strut my stuff and wait my turn

And I have often thought that these old bones
Should just go on ahead and break if they gonna
These old shoes should just go on and give out
They're running the jail for profit these days
Thats what they say

Lost my lungs long ago in the belly of the beast
Yeah I got my gall from the boys back east
Yeah I sing sweet songs with the throat that belongs to her
Yeah she wears my heart and wears my words

Got these lips from the girl next door
The only problem is they only beg for more
Sold my skin for some fancy clothes
I thought Id get a better deal but thats the way it goes

And I have often thought that these old bones
Should just go on ahead and break if they gonna
These old shoes should just go on and give out
They're running the jail for profit these days
Thats what they say

Put all the rest in a hollow tree
Yeah fill it with cement and let me be
